- 1 packet taco seasoning mix
- 1/4 cup tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish, optional)
- Lime wedges (for serving, optional)
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute.
- Add the ground beef (or ground turkey) to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks, about 7-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the taco seasoning mix, tomato sauce, and water. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 5 minutes, or until the mixture thickens.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro, if desired.
- Serve the taco meat with lime wedges on the side, if desired. Use it in tacos, burritos, nachos, or any other favorite Mexican-inspired dishes.
