Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups sushi rice
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1/3 cup rice vinegar
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 sheets nori (seaweed)
- 1 cucumber, julienned
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 200g fresh tuna or salmon (alternatively, you can use cooked shrimp or crab sticks)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp wasabi
- Pickled ginger for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the Sushi Rice:
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Combine the rice with water in a rice cooker and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Once cooked, let the rice cool slightly. In a microwave-safe bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt, then gently fold it into the cooked rice.
- Assemble the Sushi:
- Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat, shiny side down.
- Spread a thin, even layer of the prepared sushi rice over the nori, leaving a 2cm border at the top.
- Layer cucumber, avocado, and your choice of fresh tuna, salmon, cooked shrimp, or crab sticks over the rice.
- Roll the Sushi:
- Roll the nori tightly using the bamboo mat, applying pressure to secure the roll.
- Moisten the border with a bit of water to seal the edges.
- Slice and Serve:
- Use a sharp knife to slice the roll into bite-sized pieces.
- Serve immediately with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.
